Helper City wanted to notify its residents that they will be assisting with a Water Service Line Inventory Survey beginning this week. Residents will find door hangers explaining what the survey is about and how they can take the survey. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Helper City Mayor, Lenise Peterman to get all the details.
“The EPA actually created a revision to the Lead and Copper Rule. So this is a rule, a mandate, we have to follow and when they did that they realized the burden this would create on small rural communities such as ours. So, they have provided funding through the Utah Division of Drinking Water to help us go through this inventory work,” said Mayor Peterman. There are no city funds being used to conduct the free survey.
This is just a survey to find out the inner workings of the resident’s water service line. “So in cases where we can ascertain what your pipe is such as through historical records, previous residential surveys, field work – if we’ve been out, and had to plug a leak or do something. We are leveraging what we know but there are simply cases where we don’t have any really insight so going to the citizens has sort of been the last resort,” stated Mayor Peterman. Representatives from Helper City or Franson Civil Engineers may be conducting onsite surveys of meter boxes during the inventory.
Upon receiving your door hanger, you will find a QR Code on it that takes you directly to the Water Service Line Inventory Survey. “If they can’t scan the QR Code, if they can access the https://www.helpercity.net/ they also can complete the survey through the website,” explained Mayor Peterman. The survey will be made available till April 30.
