Emery Spartan track and field traveled over the mountain on Wednesday and Thursday for the Region 12 Championships at Juab High School in Nephi. The Spartans earned a pair of top-three finishes in the boys’ and girls’ divisions. The girls took second and the boys finished third.

In the girl’s division, Canyon View earned the top finish with 156.5 points, Emery took second with 113. Richfield and Delta tied for third, and North Sanpete finished fifth.

Gentry Christiansen took a top finish in the 800 with her time of 2:23.58, Addy Guymon was right behind in second. Christiansen would also claim first in the 3200 with a time of 11:30.82, Guymon finished in second, and Addy Hurst third. Guymon went on to take first in the 1600 in a time of 5:22.82 with Christiansen in second. Skylee Guymon earned a pair of third-place finishes in both the 100-meter hurdles and the 200, and a fourth-place finish in the 400. Carlie Hurst earned a fifth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles.

In relays, the Lady Spartans would claim another first-place finish behind the team of Skylee Guymon, Molly Christiansen, Addy Guymon, and Gentry Christiansen with their time of 4:13.74.

In field events, Megan Stilson claimed second in the high jump and Abby Morris took third.

For the boys, the host Juab claimed first place scoring 155 points, and Canyon View finished second with 140. Emery finished in third followed by Richfield and Delta.

Creek Sharp grabbed a first-place finish in the 100 with his time of 10.86, he would also finish third in the 200. Mathew Olsen claimed second in the 110-meter hurdles and third in the 300-meter hurdles. Camdon Larsen took second in the 1600, and Dillon Larsen took fourth. Camdon Larsen also claimed fourth in the 800, and second in the 3200.

The Spartan relay team of Mathew Olsen, Creek Sharp, Porter Hurdsman, and Boston Huntington finished third in the 4×100.

The Spartans will head back to the track on May 16 for the three-day 3A State Championships that will be held at BYU.
