On October 25, 2024, Vernon Frederick Quick, age 89 of Price, Utah was reunited with his wife Wendy.

Vernon was born July 31, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan to Lester and Opal Nelson Quick.

Some of Vernon’s fondest memories as a child were spent on his grandfather’s farm in Ohio, where he would coon hunt, ride his horse Lady, fish, and play with his pet fox.

Vernon’s school years were spent in Detroit. As a teenager, he would work on his ’34 Ford Coupe with his father. He attended Redford High, and when he was 16, he met the love of his life Wendy. They were married on November 1, 1958.

In his early career working with his wife by his side, Vernon was a talented beautician owning his own beauty salon where he had won many awards for his styling.  After a tragic fire of his first salon, he worked day and night to rebuild and was back in business within a week. Vernon had many careers throughout his life which included:  Sheet metal worker, Underground cable splicer, Hydraulic pipe fitter and Diesel parts rebuilder.

A career change took him and his family on a new adventure, moving to Utah.

After 20 years of working for Utah Power and Light at the Hunter Plant as a Journeymen Mechanic, he retired in 1997.

This gave Vernon the opportunity to experience many hobbies.  Firearms were a lifelong passion that he shared with his children.  Vernon also shared his joy of hunting with his sons as they grew.  He learned Morse Code and was a member of the Sinbad Ham Radio Club. Vern kayaked the San Rafael in his home-made kayak; built a sand rail with his son to enjoy the desert and mountains and enjoyed traveling with his wife and children exploring and camping in many states and national parks. Traveling internationally sailing the shores of British Columbia with his wife and daughter. Floating and fishing in kick boats with his son on the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers. Vern enjoyed many hours with his wife fly fishing. In his later years, Vern had dedicated himself to play the cello and he shared his love for music with his daughter.  Vernon had a talent for Pyrography (Wood Burning) he shared his talent with many friends gifting them canes, photo frames and adorning Desert Edge Christian Chapel with his wood working talent.

After a long battle with Dementia, Vernon peacefully passed away reuniting him with his memories and loved ones in heaven.

Vernon is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Wendy, parents Lester and Opal Quick and son Brady.

He is survived by his loving family, friends old and new.
