The International Survivor of Suicide Loss Day is Saturday, November 21 and the HOPE Squad of Carbon, Emery, and Grand Counties would like to invite you to participate in a virtual celebration hosted by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

“We want to provide a safe space for our survivors together and meet other survivors within the state because it’s a state focus with American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and just get some coping mechanisms, and ultimately knowing they are not alone,” said Suicide Prevention Specialist, Amanda McIntosh. This free online event will bring together other Survivors of Suicide to find connection, understanding and hope through their shared experience.

The Zoom event is set to begin at 11:00 am on November 21 and the agenda is as follows:

Individuals who wish to participate can register at https://isosld.afsp.org/utah-statewide-virtual/ A link to the event can also be found of the HOPE Squad of Carbon, Emery, and Grand Counties Facebook page. “Upon registering they will ask you if you have a picture of a loved one that you would like to include in their remembrance video. The remembrance video is going to be a compilation of all of the people that we have lost to suicide in the state of Utah and it will run at the beginning of the program. So if you want your loved one represented there, you can upload a picture really quick and your relationship to them and it will be included in the video,” stated McIntosh.

The HOPE Squad of Carbon, Emery, and Grand Counties brings awareness and provides suicide prevention activities to benefit those in the community who need it most. It believes that suicide is preventable using evidence-based programs and partners.
