Esther Marie (Schall) Mason passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 4, 2021, in Price, Utah at the age of 80.

Esther was the youngest of 16 children, born June 8, 1941, to John and Caroline (Miller) Schall in Devils Lake, North Dakota. She was raised and educated in Crary, North Dakota, graduating from Crary High School in 1959.

Esther met and married the love of her life, Sidney Arthur Mason on February 10, 1962, at St. Peters Catholic Church in Dixon, California. They made their first home in Oxnard, California, while her husband was stationed at Port Hueneme California Naval Base. Esther and Sid were blessed soon after with two children, Steve, and Keith Mason. She and the boys traveled throughout the United States and New Zealand with Sid, going to wherever his work took him, before finally settling permanently in Price, Utah in 1972.

Esther’s interests in life included fishing, camping, crocheting, family history, football, the Utah Jazz, and trips to Wendover, Nevada. She would proudly tell you that her biggest achievement in life was being a wife, mother, and Nana to her grandchildren, Daryn and Abbey. Her life’s work was serving her family.

Her heart was broken when after 59 years of marriage Sid passed away on March 20, 2021. They were only apart for a brief time, and her family finds comfort in knowing they are together again.

She is survived by her sons, Steve (Sharon) and Keith (Rebecca) Mason; two grandchildren, Daryn and Abigayle Mason (all of Price, Utah); as well as many nieces and nephews.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Arthur Mason; parents, John and Caroline Schall; all 15 of her siblings; and several nieces and nephews.
