The Little League baseball season officially came to a close on Saturday with the conclusions of the Pacific Southwest Regional Tournaments that were held in both Carbon County and various parts of California.
A total of eight teams combined from Carbon and Emery counties represented the state of Utah at the regional tournaments. Two teams managed winning records but fell short of the regional crown.
The Carbon Cal Ripken 8U All-Stars finished with a record of 3-2, advancing as far as the semifinals in their regional tournament, which took place at the Toy Atwood Complex in Price. The magnificent run ended with a 13-3 loss to the eventual champions in Southern California.
Despite holding a 3-1 record, the Eastern Utah 10U All-Stars fell just short of the final four due to a tiebreaker. After dropping its first game in Rhonert Park, Calif., the team won its final three. The tiebreaker was determined by runs allowed in the first four games.
