The Carbon Lady Dinos have made it to the final month of the season. Tuesday night they traveled to Draper to face American Preparatory Academy (APA), the No. 4 team in 2A. American Prep holds a record of 17-4 and a 5-0 region mark.  APA used a 24 point first quarter to jump out early and never looked back taking the 67-60 win.

The Lady Dinos hold the No. 4 spot in 3A and now have just two games left in the regular season before the State Championships.

American Prep used a huge first half to put Carbon in a hole from the beginning, going off for 24 in the first quarter and 21 in the second while holding the Dinos to 25 total points, as Carbon went to the locker room down 45-25.

In the second half, the Lady Dinos found both offense and defense putting up 14 in the third and then 21 in the fourth while holding APA to a total of 22 in the half, but Carbon couldn’t overcome the deficit and American Prep walked away with the 67-60 victory.

Madi Orth led the way for the Dinos with 21 points and eight boards, Kylan Sorenson added 11 with five rebounds and Gracee Vasquez had six and pulled down four rebounds in the loss.

Carbon is now down to the final two games of the regular season and both of them are against region competition.

Next Thursday they will be on the road to close out the season in Castle Dale against the No. 10 Lady Spartans (9-8, 0-4).

This week they are on the road to Cedar City to face the No. 8 Canyon View Falcons (12-6, 2-2), Thursday night.
