With profound sadness, we announce the passing of longtime Price resident, Bobby Dean Scott. He was a loving and devoted grandfather, father and friend to all whose lives he touched.

On Friday, December 29, 2023, at 83 years old, he went into the loving arms of Jesus, no longer in pain and free from all that burdened him.

Bobby was born November 11, 1940 to loving parents, Dale and Susie Harris Scott in Shady Point, Oklahoma. He lived in Hiawatha, Utah from 1950-1959 when he enlisted in the US Navy at age 18. It is during his 20 years in the Navy that he beloved daughter Troi Su was born. In 1978, he retired as Chief Petty Officer and he and Troi moved to Price where he worked at Joy Mining and Machinery from 1978-1999. When his only daughter Troi Su passed away in 1995, her oldest children lived with him for two years and he benevolently began his role as caretaker. In 1998, his father Dale needed assistance and he took care of him for two years until his passing in 2001. For 20 years Bobby was the sole caretaker for his mother up until her passing in 2020. He never complained and took pride in providing for his beloved mother.

Bobby was a member of the Elks Club, American Legion, VFW, and the DAV. He was also a dedicated honorary member of the Utah Sheriff’s Association. He was at a VFW meeting that Bob recommended the “Dough Boy” statue from Hiawatha be relocated to the Price Peace Gardens, and that is where it resides to this day.

Bobby is survived by his grandchildren and their families, Kristen (Travis) Cole, sons, Ethan and Grady; Bobby (Krystle) Taylor, children, Dagen, Isabelle, J.R. and Madilyn; Donnie (Vanessa) Russell, children, Myha Lei, Ryland, Ayden; Stephanie Russell, children, Todd and Selyne.

He lived a full life as a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him. He loved to camp, fish, garden and spend time with his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed and the hole left behind cannot be easily filled.
