The final Utah High School Activities Association’s RPI rankings for 3A boys’ baseball were announced Wednesday morning. With the playoff field now set, the newest format will get its first run beginning Thursday afternoon.

The Grantsville Cowboys earned the No. 1 seed after finishing the regular season with an 18-2 record. The Region 12 champion Juab Wasps will enter as the No. 2 seed, followed by Carbon at No. 3. Canyon View and Morgan round out the top five.

This year’s format will feature a best of three series in the opening round, with the top eight seeds playing host to those nine through 16. The first game of each series will be played Thursday, with the final two being held on Friday.

By Saturday afternoon the field will be chopped in half to eight. Those remaining teams will enter a double elimination tournament beginning Monday, May 6 at Kearns High School. The tournament will run all week, with the championship series (also a best of three) taking place Saturday.

Below is the schedule for the opening round. The first game of each series will be played Thursday at 4:00 p.m. The second game is scheduled for Friday at 1:00 p.m., with the decisive third game (if necessary) immediately following game two:
