Disc golf is a sport that has taken off in the last few years, and thanks to the course on the campus of USU Eastern, Carbon County has also been bitten by the bug. The course that spans the campus and Pioneer Park recently hosted a tournament as part of International Days and was sponsored by the University.
Players from Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, and Michigan made up the field of 75 participants at this year’s event. Times were staggered throughout the morning and early afternoon, with no “tee times” set it allowed players to start anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. allowing participants to go to the parade on Saturday morning and other festivities that day.
Awards were given for the top place in eight divisions: Advanced, Intermediate, Beginner, Women’s Advanced, Women’s Beginner, Youth, Youth Girls, and Doubles.
In the advanced division, Tyler Beagley won the top spot. Josiah Trostle took the top spot for the intermediate class, with a tie between Aaron Twitchell and Dan Gibson in the beginner division.
Three different divisions were specifically for women and Nicole Harris won the advanced division with Taylie West taking the biginner’s. Ashley Jenson claimed first in the youth girls division.
In the doubles class, the team of Kolby Widmier and Richard Von Rintelen took first.
