Norman Val Curtis, 78, returned home to his Heavenly Father on November 25, 2021.

He was born August 18, 1943, to Doyle Willis Curtis and Mary Inez Jacobsen in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is the third of five children.

He was raised in Salt Lake City until the age of 15 when his family moved to Kanab, Utah. While in high school, he was active in sports including: track, basketball, and football. His love for football even earned him an all-state title. After high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served there as a radar technician on the B-52 Bomber. He served in the Air Force for seven and a half years. He married Beverly Andrews. Together they had two children, Connie, and Gary. They later divorced. After his divorce, he transferred to California where he met his sweetheart Bonnie Jean Peters. They were married January 24, 1970, in Reno, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on January 24, 1977.

Together Norm and Bonnie raised four children, Mark, Jeff, Tim, and Tami. They moved a few times in the beginning of their marriage but soon found their home in Castle Dale, Utah, living on the family farm. After moving to Castle Dale, he worked in the coal mines. He loved to work on cars and after leaving the coal mines he and his son Jeff opened a transmission repair shop in Price, where they worked together for 16 years. He did not like to be idle and decided after leaving the shop he needed something to do and returned to the coal mine as a security guard. Throughout his life he enjoyed many hobbies, including prospecting, remodeling homes, fishing, trips to Mesquite and Wendover and more recently he enjoyed growing and caring for his beloved orange tree. His greatest passion was to spend time with his family. You never had to question his love which he showed in many different ways. From his elaborate family Christmas parties that he would plan and prepare for months, the delivery of groceries after his trips to Sam’s Club, earning him the nickname “fruit fairy” and every time he saw one of his grandchildren if he had a dollar in his pocket, he would give it to them. He was proud of every one of his children and grandchildren and it was always evident by the tears that would fill his eyes at all their accomplishments.

Norm is survived by his loving wife of almost 52 years, Bonnie; children, Connie Herrick, Gary Richardson, Mark (Melissa) Sears, Jeffery (Cammie) Curtis, Timothy (Shonna) Curtis, and Tamara (Jared) Young; brother, Gene (Bunny) Curtis; sister, Genean Hickenlooper; sister-in-law, Mareah Curtis-Vanwagoner; brother-in-law, David Lingwall; 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren with one more on the way.
